Yoga

 

Yoga has become increasingly popular in the west.  Many people have heard of yoga and might have even been to a class or two. But what is it and can I do it?  

Yoga is a combination of breathing (pranayama), postures (asana), and stillness (meditation).  People are most familiar with the asana portion of yoga and many times this is from seeing photos of people is crazy contorsionist type poses and this is what leads many people to believe that they cannot do yoga.  Not to worry, the typical yoga class does not come anywhere close to putting both feet behind your head while smiling!

Through yoga we can work on the breath while building strength and flexibility in the body and quiet in the mind.
